Accessing Data

 

Planning teams must gather and organize relevant data generated from a variety of sources as they prepare to plan.

 

Types of Data for Improvement Planning

Performance

Demographic

Process

Perception

Outcomes of the educational system

Descriptive information about the educational system

What is happening (practices) in the educational system

What stakeholders think, believe or perceive about the educational system

   Within the unified improvement planning process, these four different types of data are used to:

  •  identify trends and prioritize performance challenges (performance data
  • determine root causes (process and perception data
  • set targets (federal, state and local performance expectations)
  • monitor progress towards performance targets (interim measures of student performance)
  • monitor implementation of major improvement strategies (process and perception data)

Schoolview Schoolview is a centralized hub with access to a wide variety of state level data and tools that schools and districts can use to analyze current performance and create improvement plans.

School and District Performance Frameworks The frameworks are official annual reports produced by CDE that are used for accountability and planning purposes.

TLCC survey  The Teaching and Learning Conditions in Colorado survey is a statewide, anonymous survey intended to support school, district, and state improvement planning, as well as research and policy.  Statewide results are posted and school and district results are sent directly to districts.

School and District Dashboard  The two dashboards provide multiple years of data including achievement and growth data, post-secondary readiness data, demographics, and enrollment/attendance data.

PWR Data Sources (PDF)  This document contains a compiled list of data sources that are state collected and reported as well as local data that could be collected by the district that can be valuable in assessing high school students’ progress and post-secondary workforce readiness.

Local Data sources - Schools and Districts should also consider local data sources for each area of data that could include benchmark assessments, completion or participation rates, more precise attendance or tardiness data, and student engagement or readiness measures.
