Principal Leadership Institute
2022-23 Principal Leadership Institute
The Principal Leadership Institute is a one-year program focusing on distributive leadership, where principal participants will work alongside exemplary principals using a coaching framework. The program framework will be job-embedded and will include actionable leadership seminars, monthly workshops, site visits and coaching sessions with principal coaches (in virtual and in-person environments (to be mutually determined between principal participants and coaches)). The philosophy of this model builds in high levels of support for leaders (via principal coaches) throughout the program to sustain and integrate the skills and behaviors learned throughout the seminar.
Theory of Action
IF principals can build systems that create a sense of collective teacher efficacy and a culture and climate that empowers, THEN teacher retention and satisfaction will increase, and this will have a positive impact on student learning outcomes.
Principal participants will achieve learning outcomes around increased teacher collective efficacy and positive culture and climate in schools via six (6) Key Leverage Points:
- Understand Leadership Identity
- Incorporate Distributive Leadership Practices
- Establish Trust in Schools
- Build Teacher Capacity
- Create Collaborative Groups
- Optimize Systems and Structures to Empower Teachers and Staff
