Overview
Students who meet the CoAlt participation guidelines take the alternate assessments in all statewide tests, including English Language Arts, math, science, and social studies. Students who are multilingual learners take the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs.
The student's IEP team decides if the student takes the CoAlt or general education assessments. Only students with significant cognitive disabilities receiving instruction based on the Extended Evidence Outcomes (EEO) of the Colorado Academic Standards participate in CoAlt.
Additional guidance is provided in the Alternate Standards and Assessment Participation Guidelines Worksheet and Companion Document.
