Based on the data analysis and identification of priority performance challenges, schools and districts should clarify the targets that will focus their improvement efforts for the next two school years. If the school or district already set targets in the prior year, those targets should be updated based on the most recent performance data.

Once annual performance targets are set for the next two years, districts and schools must identify interim measures, or what they will measure during the year to determine if progress is being made towards each of the annual performance targets. Both annual performance targets and interim measures should be documented in section IV: Action Plan tab in the UIP Online System.

The UIP Handbook Section IV: Action Plans describes Target Setting further detail.

For tools and resources related to target setting, visit the "Target Setting: Tools" page (also accessible through the left-hand navigation menu).  This page includes downloadable documents and examples to assist planning teams through the UIP process.
