News Release -- State Board of Education hears details of 1241 Task Force recommendations for changes to accountability and accreditation system
During its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, the State Board of Education heard recommendations from the 1241 Task Force, which was created to make improvements to the accountability and accreditation system and released its final report last week.

News Release - Colorado Accountability Task Force recommends overhaul of state education accountability system
A task force created to examine the state’s education accountability system is recommending a major overhaul, including adjustments to ratings for schools and districts, to better reflect the achievement of different student groups and to provide parents, guardians, and family members with a clearer understanding of how well schools prepare students for life after high school.

Sherri Wright was sworn in on Monday in Cortez to represent Congressional District 3 on the Colorado State Board of Education, replacing Stephen Varela who resigned from the board earlier this month to take a school-based position.

News Release -- Colorado State Board of Education revises rules to expand ways for current teachers to obtain their special education endorsements
In its October meeting, the Colorado State Board of Education approved rule changes to the Educator Licensing Act to make it easier for individuals to become licensed special education teachers.

News Release -- U.S. Department of Education names four Colorado schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools
The U.S. Department of Education today announced its 2024 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Award Schools with four Colorado schools as selected out of 356 schools across the country. Colorado’s 2024 Blue Ribbon Schools are DSST Cedar High School in Denver Public Schools, Zach Elementary School in Poudre School District, Mesa View Elementary School in Mesa County Valley School District 51, and Skyview Middle School in Pueblo County School District 70.

The Colorado State Board of Education on Wednesday adjusted the cut score for the digital SAT math test that is used as a measurement to demonstrate competency for the state’s Graduation Guidelines.
