News Release -- Colorado Department of Education opens application period for 2026 Colorado Teacher of the Year
The Colorado Department of Education opened the applications for Colorado’s 2026 Teacher of the Year. The application form will be open until Wednesday, April 23. We encourage every teacher to apply! CDE will offer virtual office hours Wednesday, April 2, and Wednesday, April 16, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. to provide support for applicants.

News Release -- Colorado State Board of Education approves state's first teacher degree apprenticeship program
During its March meeting, the Colorado State Board of Education approved the state’s first Teacher Degree Apprenticeship program. This program will be sponsored by CareerWise and allow aspiring educators to gain in-classroom experience while they earn a bachelor’s degree.

News Release - Colorado Department of Education reminds Coloradans to submit nominations for 2026 Teacher of the Year
The Colorado Department of Education is reminding Coloradans to submit their nominations for the state’s 2026 Teacher of the Year on or before Monday, March 17. To date, 1,009 individuals from across the state have submitted a nominee for the award. All nominees will be invited to participate in the Teacher of the Year Application process. Nominations can be submitted at cdeinfo.org/toy.

News Release - Colorado Department of Education publishes free K-12 math resources
The Colorado Department of Education released a suite of free K-12 resources to support educators and families with math instruction. The CDE Math Intervention Resources were co-created with 18 math teachers from 12 Colorado school districts and four institutions of higher learning and the Colorado Council of Teachers of Mathematics (CCTM). These resources are designed for educators, families, and out-of-school time professionals to support student success in key areas of mathematics.

News Release - State’s largest teacher recruitment fair is Saturday at Dakota Ridge High School
The Colorado Educator Recruitment Fair will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Dakota Ridge High School, 13399 W. Coal Mine Ave. in Littleton. The event is the state’s largest teacher employment fair with representatives from 87 hiring school districts.

The Colorado Department of Education is inviting community members to recognize exceptional teachers by nominating an educator to submit an application for the 2026 Colorado Teacher of the Year. News Release - State Board of Education approves accountability pathways for two schools
During its February meeting, the Colorado State Board of Education unanimously approved accountability pathways for two schools that have received either a Priority Improvement Plan or Turnaround Plan for five consecutive years on the state’s School Performance Framework.
