Food benefits reimbursement program available for families
Beginning Wednesday, July 22, the Colorado Department of Human Services, in collaboration with CDE, will offer Coloradans with school-enrolled children food benefits through the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer program. This effort will help support Colorado’s families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CDE to offer optional SAT and PSAT tests this fall at no cost to public school seniors and juniors
Colorado school districts and charter schools will have the opportunity this fall to offer their 12th and 11th grade students the SAT and PSAT at no cost to the student.

State Board modifies Graduation Guidelines Menu for 2020-21
The board granted districts flexibility with the state’s graduation options because of the disruption to learning and the cancellation or limited availability of several of the tests last spring.

2020-21 free and reduced price meal income guidelines released
CDE has released the eligibility guidelines for children unable to pay the full price served in schools under the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program and/or the Special Milk Program.

New website helps Colorado high school students discover programs for earning college credit while still in high school
Colorado high school students can find information about how to earn college credit while they are still in high school on a new website created by the Colorado Department of Education and the Colorado Department of Higher Education.

State Board of Education to apply for funding for ‘remote learning collectives’
The State Board of Education authorized CDE staff to submit an application for the federal Education Stabilization Fund -- Rethink K12 Education Models (ESF-REM) grant to create community-based “remote learning collectives” to support children’s academic needs.

State Board of Education approves statewide waivers
At its regular meeting this month, the board approved four statewide waivers necessary due to the disruptions caused by the pandemic. Commissioner of Education Katy Anthes also provided updates on CDE's response to COVID-19.
