Licensure Information for All Out-of-State Candidates
Who Is an Out-of-State Applicant?
Anyone who completes a preparation program outside Colorado, including in-state residents completing an online program provided by an entity outside Colorado.
Will Colorado Recognize My Preparation Program?
Per Colorado State Board of Education rule 1 CCR 301-37 2.03(3), individuals who complete endorsement or degree programs outside Colorado must hold or qualify to hold the associated license/endorsement in the state of preparation in order for Colorado to recognize that program. Individuals also will need to meet any other Colorado licensure and endorsement requirements.

Teacher
- bachelor's or higher degree
- approved program verification form completed by the certification officer or registrar at the college/university at which you complete teacher preparation
- demonstration of content knowledge
Principal
- bachelor's or higher degree
- approved program verification form completed by the certification officer or registrar at the college/university at which you completed principal (building-level leadership) preparation
- PRAXIS 5412 (146 or higher)
- Certificate of completion of ETrain evaluator training
- An interim authorization may be issued for individuals who qualify to hold a principal license in the state of preparation, but who first need to meet the exam and/or the E-Train requirement.
Special Services

Administrator
- bachelor's or higher degree
- approved program verification from completed by the certification officer or registrar at the college/university at which you completed administrator (district-level leadership) preparation
- PRAXIS 6991
- Certificate of completion of ETrain evaluator training
- An interim authorization may be issued for individuals who qualify to hold a principal license in the state of preparation, but who first need to meet the exam and/or the E-Train requirement.
