Dear Superintendents and BOCES directors,

Even with students out of school, I know summer is a busy season across your districts. Thank you for everything you and your teams are doing behind the scenes to prepare for the year ahead. We are also working on our plans for the upcoming school year, and I want to remind you about some of our learning and support opportunities

50% Chronic Absenteeism Reduction Challenge

To date, 44 districts and 38 schools have joined our statewide attendance campaign focused on reducing chronic absenteeism by 50%. This year, we are offering expanded professional learning opportunities focused on student attendance.

2025-26 Professional Learning Cohorts

We invite you and your teams to take part in this year’s Leadership Learning Cohorts—collaborative spaces designed to support school and district leaders in tackling persistent challenges together. Whether you’re working to reduce chronic absenteeism, strengthen rural leadership, or address other pressing needs, these cohorts offer a chance to connect with peers, grow your leadership, and drive meaningful change.

As a reminder, we are pausing our monthly superintendent calls in July. Our next call is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12 at 8am. You should have already received a new invitation, if not please contact Emma Garrett-Nelson at garrett-nelson_e@cde.state.co.us.

I’m grateful for your continued leadership and wish you moments of rest and renewal this summer.

Susana

Dr. Susana Córdova
