Join our five-part webinar series on foundational concepts of special education evaluation! This series will cover essential topics to ensure thorough evaluations, foster strong partnerships with families, address cultural diversity, utilize alternative assessment methods, and effectively communicate assessment findings.

This event is open to public educators across Colorado, especially professionals who are new to special education or those needing a refresher on evidence-based foundational strategies in special education evaluation.

Costs

There is no cost associated with CDE trainings.

Webinar Information

  • All sessions will be held via Zoom.
  • Length of Time 1 ½ hours
  • Time of Day: 8 - 9:30 am
  • These sessions will not be recorded.

Certificate

Attendees will receive an evaluation that must be complete to obtain 1 ½ hours of CEUs for each session

Session 1: Comprehensiveness in Special Education Evaluation and Data-Based Decision Making

Date: September 24, 2024

Session 1 Objectives:

Session 2: Best Practices in Non-Discriminatory Assessment for Special Education

Date: October 29, 2024

Session 2 Objectives:

  • Ensure fairness and equity in assessments.
  • Address cultural and linguistic considerations.
  • Avoid bias in testing and evaluation.
  • Discuss practical resources for non-discriminatory assessment practices.

Session 3: Meaningful Family Participation and Collaboration in the Special Education Evaluation Process

Date: December 17, 2024

Session 3 Objectives:

  • Effectively involve families in the evaluation process.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with families.
  • Incorporate family perspectives into decision-making.
  • Share practical resources for family engagement and collaboration.

Session 4: Best Practices in Teleassessment: Leveraging Technology for Effective Evaluations

Date: January 28, 2025

Session 4 Objectives:

  • Adapt assessments for remote delivery using technology.
  • Ensure reliability and validity in teleassessments.
  • Address specific challenges and considerations in remote evaluations.
  • Utilize practical resources, including tools and writing aids, to enhance teleassessment effectiveness.

Session 5: Effective Psychoeducational Reports and Data Communication

Date: March 5, 2025

Session 5 Objectives:

  • Write clear and concise psychoeducational reports.
  • Ensure reports are accessible and understandable for all stakeholders.
  • Include actionable recommendations in reports.
  • Provide practical resources for writing effective psychoeducational reports and communicating assessment data.
