CDE Field Trips - 11/6/24 Nearly 450 participants registered for CDE's Learning Cohorts

Posted 11/06/2024 - 4:19pm

In September CDE launched its fourth year of learning cohorts -- statewide professional learning opportunities for school and district leaders from across the state to come together to learn about and share best practices in improving student outcomes.

Seven learning cohorts are taking place throughout the school year with 446 registered participants from dozens of Colorado school districts.

The learning cohorts include topics such as chronic absenteeism, special education, community schools, and family, school, and community partnerships.

The chronic absenteeism cohort has 86 registered participants and is looking at the root cause of absenteeism and examining research-based strategies to increase student engagement.

CDE’s District Improvement Strategy Office (DISO) encourages school and district leaders interested in cohorts to apply as a guests to attend learning cohort sessions. Additionally, DISO has rolling applications for its Communities of Practice convenings, which gather district, school, and BOCES leaders in similar roles to share resources and build communities on various topics. These topics include Section 504 management for both school and district leaders and a Community of Practice on rural leadership, which will begin in January.
