CDE Field Trips -- 7/24/24: CDE staff members meet with student researchers

Posted 07/24/2024 - 9:57am

Members of CDE's information management and school improvement and planning teams met in July with student researchers from area high schools who are part of a Youth to Youth Empowerment lab at CU Anschutz Medical Campus to to provide an overview of what data CDE collects, why, and how to access publicly available data.

Kathryn Wright, Reagan Ward, Brooke Wenzel, Brigitte Mutter and Dawna Gudka gave a high-level presentation about CDE's data collections and how the data is used and posted on CDE's website. The group, which is led by Nicole Tuitt from the University of Colorado Anschutz, is for "youth researchers of color to foster their interest in research, center their voices in research, and ensure the research addresses the community's needs."

The goal is to identify and examine associations among social and structural contexts and interpersonal and individual level factors with substance use and sexual risk taking among urban American Indian and Alaska Native and Black youth of the Denver metro area.
