Meet With Your School Counselor
One of the most important people in your school to talk about Concurrent Enrollment is your school counselor. Your school counselor can help you determine if you are eligible to participate in Concurrent Enrollment and what courses might be most appropriate given your interests and postsecondary plans.
Here’s how to plan for a meeting with your school counselor and what to expect after:
Come Prepared with Questions
Here are some questions you might ask:
- How do I know if I’m eligible to participate in Concurrent Enrollment?
- Since I’m interested in ____ career, what types of courses should I consider?
- What courses am I most qualified to take?
- What is required from me to enroll in Concurrent Enrollment courses?
- Am I required to take a test? Do I need a certain test score?
- What is my family obligated to pay for?
- What happens if I change my mind?
Review and Sign Form with your Parent/Guardian
- If you decide to move forward with taking a Concurrent Enrollment course, you and your parent/guardian will need to review and sign a Concurrent Enrollment Agreement form.
- This form might be a hard copy or an electronic form.
- The purpose of the form is to apply for approval and to list what you and your parent/guardian agree to and what your school agrees to.
- An example of what the form may look like is available here (PDF)
- Please read the form carefully and ask your school counselor if you have any questions about what you are signing.
Apply for the College Opportunity Fund (COF)
- You are required as a Concurrent Enrollment student to apply for the College Opportunity Fund (COF) when you register for a Concurrent Enrollment course.
- COF is a stipend provided by the State of Colorado to eligible undergraduate students. This stipend covers part of your tuition at certain public 2-year and 4-year colleges/universities. Learn more about COF.
