- Breakfast After the Bell (PDF)
Breakfast After the Bell offers a breakfast at no charge to each student enrolled in a public school that has 70 percent or more students who are eligible for free or reduced price lunch under the USDA’s National School Lunch Program.

Improves access to free school meals in eligible high poverty local educational agencies and schools and eliminates the administrative burden of collecting household applications.
- Provision 2 (PDF)
Provision 2 is an eligibility option for districts that reduces application burdens and simplifies counting and claiming procedures. Provision 2 can be offered for breakfast, lunch or for both breakfast and lunch.

CDE's Office of School Nutrition administers the U.S. Department of Agriculture Child Nutrition Programs in local school districts and charter schools to promote the health and well-being of children.
- Smart Snacks in School (PDF)
Smart Snacks in School are nutrition standards required by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. This legislation required the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to establish nutrition standards for all foods sold in schools, other than foods sold under the national school lunch and breakfast programs.
- Summer Food Service Program (PDF)
Ensures that children continue to receive nutritious meals during the summer, when they do not have access to school lunch or breakfast.
