Dr. Lisa A. Escárcega was elected to the Colorado State Board of Education in November 2020 representing the 1st Congressional District.

In January 2023, Lisa was selected to serve as the Vice-Chairwoman of the State Board of Education for a two-year term.

She recently served as the Executive Director of the Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE) that represents more than 2,400 Colorado education leaders.

Prior to CASE, Lisa was the Chief Accountability and Research Officer for the Aurora Public School District, serving for a decade as a senior member on the district leadership team and on the Superintendent’s Cabinet. She had been with Aurora Public Schools since 2002, previously serving as the Director of Assessment/Research.

Lisa began her 36-year career in education as a School Psychologist working both in Michigan and in Colorado. Serving in public schools with students age 3-21, her educational and clinical experiences focused on mental health, behavior and learning.

Lisa was awarded a doctorate in Quantitative Research Methods from the University of Denver and possesses both a master’s and a specialist degree in Educational Psychology from Ball State University. She has served on many state committees/organizational boards and was awarded a state Policy Leadership Award in 2015.
