Kathy Gebhardt is a lifelong advocate for public education, deeply rooted in Colorado’s Boulder Valley Schools as both a graduate and the parent of five children who attended the district. Her upbringing in a family committed to public service and education inspired her passion for equitable opportunities for all students. She has spent countless hours volunteering in schools, serving on district committees, and addressing the challenges and opportunities within the public education system.

Kathy’s leadership and advocacy have had a lasting impact on education in Colorado. She served eight years on the Boulder Valley Board of Education, including two as president, and has held leadership roles with the Colorado and National Associations of School Boards. Her legal expertise has been instrumental in landmark cases, such as Giardino v. State of Colorado, which led to the Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) program, resulting in over $3 billion in school facility investments. She is an attorney and an adjunct professor who teaches education law at the University of Denver and the University of Colorado, equipping future leaders to continue the fight for equitable education.

With a career spanning leadership, advocacy, and teaching, Kathy combines personal experience, professional expertise, and a deep commitment to public service. Her dedication to public education has transformed lives, improved schools, and strengthened communities, making her a vital voice for students, educators, and families across Colorado.
