School Description: Steamboat Springs Middle School is located in the northwest region of Colorado. Approximately 450 students in grades 6-8 attend SSMS for the 2024-2025 school year. The enrollment numbers have decreased due to the opening of a new middle school in the district a couple years ago which now services approximately 150 students. This decrease in enrollment has allowed SSMS to expand programs as well as create more learning spaces across the school. For first time in many years, th…
ere is alignment between staffing, space, and enrollment. As evidenced by the Colorado Healthy Kids Survey and the school's Climate and Culture Survey, students feel safe and connected at school. They are involved in extracurricular activities, clubs and sports. School-wide systems, a flexible master schedule, professional learning communities, restorative practices, SEL, and PBiS continue to be impactful in influencing a positive climate and culture for both students, teachers, and families. The school's mission, vision and core values along with the district's strategic plan guide the school's work.
