Citing concerns about lack of support and consistent direction from leadership in the Adams 14 School District and the impact it is having on student's ability to learn, the state board is seeking feedback about the future of Central Elementary School.

CDE still accepting public feedback on social studies
The Colorado Academic Standards review committees for the Social Studies released draft recommendations for revisions to the standards. The public feedback window on revisions has been extended to Feb. 1.

Board begins process of reviewing academic standards in social studies and arts
The board kicked off its review of recommendations for revising the Colorado Academic Standards in social studies and the arts as required by House Bill 20-1032. Public feedback on these recommendations will open Friday, Nov. 12.

This December most state's school districts will begin incrementally raising property taxes to fix a decades’ old practice that reduced local taxes for education based on what has now been determined to be a misinterpretation of the Colorado Constitution.

Glenwood Springs teacher named 2022 Colorado Teacher of the Year
Autumn Rivera, a sixth-grade science teacher at Glenwood Springs Middle School in Roaring Fork School District, was named Colorado’s 2022 Teacher of the Year in a surprise, limited-capacity ceremony on Friday, Oct. 22.

At its October meeting, the board approved grants that will provide teacher training in computer science and to expand participation in computer science by historically underrepresented students.

State releases draft plan for new Department of Early Childhood, calls for public comment
Colorado released the first draft of a plan to establish the Department of Early Childhood that will align and strengthen the state’s early childhood care and education services and programs, including the voter-approved, voluntary, universal preschool program.
