Join us for the CDE annual BVI State Conference.  Robbin Clark will provide two days of training on the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) for Students with Blindness/Visual Impairment.

The goal of the Expanded Core Curriculum is to produce interdependent individuals who are self-reliant and prepared for post-school life. The ECC begins early and should be evident across all grade levels. Students must have deep and meaningful connections to the world around them as well as real essential core skills of  1st-century learning such as critical thinking. The training will highlight how to upgrade specially designed instruction to an authentic approach that supports applying and transferring skills. The training will include strategies for learners with additional disabilities,  including deaf-blindness.

Robbin Clark currently serves as the Assistant Director/Principal at the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind over the Expanded Core Curriculum and the Bridges Programs. She is the camp director for Camp Abilities Utah, a one-week developmental sports camp for children with visual impairments. Prior to her current work, she worked for seven years as the vision rehabilitation therapist in the Children’s Services division at BESB in Connecticut. Personally, Robbin has been active in the vision impairment community since her youth: living and working with her mother who has total vision loss provided the foundation for her life’s passion. Her credentials include a vision rehabilitation therapist graduate degree from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, and a graduate endorsement in curriculum & instruction from Walden University. She is currently pursuing a master’s endorsement in instructional coaching at the University of Kentucky.

Center for Assistive Technology (CATT)

Date: September 26, 2023, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm

Join us for a night of assistive technology brought to us by CATT. CATT is the Center for Assistive Technology Training and is a collaborative effort between the Foundation for Blind Children (FBC), the American Printing House for the Blind (APH), and the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind (AIDB). 

The CATT team will provide an overview demonstration of many AT tools. Connect with us to address the unique needs of each student with low vision or blindness in our state. Together, we can make a meaningful impact through targeted training and empowerment.
