2017 Online and Blended Educator Recognition Recipients

The Choice and Innovation Unit along with the Office of Blended & Online Learning would like to congratulate the following educators in blended and online environments that have gone above and beyond in their service to students enrolled in Colorado’s online and blended schools and programs. 

Steve Bergamo, School Counselor, St. Vrain Online Global Academy

Steve Bergamo is a school counselor at the St. Vrain Online Global Academy in the St. Vrain Valley School District.  Scott is described as an exceptional educator who makes a difference in student’s lives.  In his role as a school counselor for grades 9th -12th, Scott assists students in their search to find an appropriate post-secondary setting while helping them to set goals to reach their individual potential.  Students describe Scott as welcoming, reliable, caring, trusting, helpful, and compassionate. Because of Scott’s efforts, the school’s course completion rate is the highest it has ever been and the school has had an increase in scores on the state college entrance exams in the areas of reading, writing and math.

Jessica Glynn, Teacher, Denver Online High School

Jessica Glynn is an English Language Arts teacher at Denver Online High School in the Denver Public School District.  Jessica is described as an incredible teacher and staff leader within the Denver Online High School.  She is always focused on what can be done, what can be changed, and what can be implemented to better support students and the school.  Jessica strives to support students in finding their passions and is a teacher who students consistently deem as one of their favorites. Jessica plays a central role within the English department at the school and has helped to increase student growth as shown by increases on the school’s MAPS assessments and ACT scores.

Chad Greiner, Teacher, Peak Virtual Academy

As a secondary math teacher at Peak Virtual Academy in the Montrose County School District RE-1J, Chad Greiner believes all students can be successful in math. He works tirelessly to ensure that his students fully understand math and achieve proficiency.  As a result of Chad’s efforts, students at Peak Virtual Academy showed the highest growth in the entire district on the math portion of the state assessment for the 2016-17 school year.  Chad’s dedication to each and every student leads to strong relationships which in turn lead to active participation, consistent attendance and student growth. Chad is always willing to grow and learn which makes him a wonderful role model for students, teachers, and staff.
