Estes Thrives: Designing a local learning for a global future

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

Estes Park School District R-3 launched the first part of its "Estes Thrives initiative" in a viral way with a gateway video in December.

The goal of the Estes Thrives initiative is to bring together the community and students in new and diverse ways to create a local teaching community of 21st Century learners.

According to the initiative's website, research has shown that learning works best when students can apply themselves to something relevant, meaningful, and inspiring. Like all of us, the young people of Estes Park like to make a difference. That’s what Estes Thrives is all about. It’s a youth driven initiative that brings students and community members together to work on projects that create a bright future.

The video production that was collaborated by Be Clearly and Voortex Productions had an organic reach of over 30,000 views in the first month. The district says the response has been overwhelming.

The initiative has prompted several stakeholders, parents, students and community members to step forward to work for a common goal of partnership. The initiative's motto is: "The future of learning in Estes Park belongs to all of us, we all have a part in it."
