Celebrate Colorado Teacher Appreciation Week, May 3-7

DENVER – Colorado Teacher Appreciation Week is May 3-7, 2021, and is the perfect time to show teachers how much we appreciate the dedication, creativity and problem-solving they demonstrate every day.

“Teachers have shown resilience and adaptability during a very challenging year. We are so grateful for their extraordinary efforts to support students and their families,” said Colorado Education Commissioner Katy Anthes. "Help us celebrate teachers by reaching out to a teacher who made a difference in your life or showing appreciation for your child’s teacher."

During this week, which coincides with National Teacher Appreciation Week, the public is encouraged to express gratitude on social media by sharing a post, image or video thanking a teacher and using the hashtag, #ThankATeacherCO.

Parents can help their children create and send a virtual message to their teachers. Families are also welcome to download and print a free template posted on the CDE Parent and Family Resources webpage.

Districts, schools and education stakeholders are welcome to use and customize resources in CDE's Teacher Appreciation Week toolkit as they plan their local celebrations.

One of the best ways to honor an exceptional teacher is by nominating them to be the 2022 Colorado Teacher of the Year. Once nominated, a teacher will receive an invitation to apply for the awarded position. The nomination form is available on the Teacher of the Year program webpage
