Show gratitude during Teacher Appreciation Week
Thank a teacher for nurturing Colorado’s children
DENVER – Expressing gratitude is known to be associated with greater happiness, and what better way to spread the joy than during Colorado Teacher Appreciation Week, May 7-11? This week, which is also National Teacher Appreciation Week, is designated as a special time to honor the men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating children.
“Again and again we confirm that the most important factor of student learning is the teacher in the classroom,” said Colorado Education Commissioner Katy Anthes. “Teachers are an essential part of our state’s education system. This week and every day we celebrate and thank teachers for all of their tremendous work and dedication in the classroom.”
During the week, the public can express their gratitude on social media by sharing a post, image or video with a sign thanking a teacher and using the hashtag, #ThankATeacherCO. Explain why you appreciate teachers or give a shout out to one who has made a difference in your life. Tag a friend and invite them to also give thanks.
Do you know an outstanding teacher? Say “Thank You” during Colorado Teacher Appreciation Week and nominate them for the 2019 Colorado Teacher of the Year Award.
Christina Randle, a first-grade teacher at Soaring Eagles Elementary School in Colorado Springs Harrison School District, was named the 2018 Colorado Teacher of the Year.
