Training Modules Available for DIBELS DEEP on November 15, 2016

Through a partnership with Dynamic Measurement Group (authors of DIBELS Deep), Amplify and the Colorado Department of Education an online training opportunity for DIBELS Deep: PA &WRD will be hosted within the mCLASS platform. This training series was expressly created for Colorado Educators in the Early Literacy Assessment Tool (ELAT) project.

The objectives for the training are:

  • Determining when to use DIBELS Deep as your approved READ Act diagnostic assessment
  • Differentiating  the purposes of DIBELS Next and DIBELS Deep
  • Accurately administering and scoring DIBELS Deep
  • Interpreting the results of DIBELS Deep to plan instruction

The training is comprised of 4 online modules that vary in length as well as a PDF training guide*

  • Module 1:  Over view (45 minutes)
  • Module 2: Phonemic  Awareness (1 hour, 30 minutes—plus time for activities)
  • Module 3: Word Reading and Decoding (1 hour, 30 minutes—plus time for activities)
  • Module 4: Conclusion (30 minutes—plus time for activities)

To access the DIBELS Deep modules, log into www.mclasshome.com.  Look for the Notices icon.  Click the icon to access a notice that has the links to the modules and participant guide.  Clicking the links will allow you to download the files.

*While the training guide can be downloaded and printed ( 220 pages in length) we would recommend that you purchase a training book through Dynamic Measurement Group. We have arranged a discounted price of $9.70 for a bound book to compliment the on-line modules. Please download the order form for training books.

DIBELS Deep Report:

Amplify has created a new DIBELS Deep Report that can be accessed from the class summary. You can use it to see which DIBELS Deep measure each student has been assessed on in the current school year and which skill level they have been assigned for each section. You can view a sample report here and access a help document to support effective report use.

Item Level Advisor:

We are excited to announce that the Item Level Advisor has been updated to recognize additional error patterns, and new supplemental activities to support learning associated with the additional patterns.  If you have not yet used this tool, the Item Level Advisor detects error patterns in students’ DIBELS Next probe detail pages for both benchmark and progress monitoring assessments. When you activate ILA, you will see a sidebar that lists out applicable error patterns for the student, as well as linked instructional resources. Amplify provides a comprehensive Item Level Advisor document for your reference.

Pathways of Progress:

On our virtual learning page for ELAT, we have posted an additional introductory virtual module to the effective use of Pathways of Progress.
