Credential Delivery

Overview

When your eCertificate has been approved and issued, you will receive an email from the system with your eCertificate attached as a PDF. CDE no longer mails hardcopy certificates.

The system will send the eCertificate to the address you have associated with your eLicensing account. Check your email and junk email often. CDE will email only the address you have associated with your account. We always recommend a personal email account that you check often. If you need to update your email address, log into your eLicense account and click on the "Change Email/ Password/User ID/ Security Questions" link in the Online Services menu. Do not call CDE for email address updates.

Benefits of the email process include:

  • Credentials are available much quicker — this process eliminates three weeks required to print and mail hardcopy certificates
  • Cost savings — saves the state money in printing, mailing costs and staff time
  • Encourages automation — less paper, more timely for employing districts

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How quickly can I view/print my credential after I apply?
Applications that are complete (those requiring no follow-up with you by CDE evaluators) will be processed within six weeks.
  • How can I print another copy?
Save your PDF eCertificate to your computer and print as many copies as you'd like. If you delete your email and the attached PDF without saving a copy, you can request an additional eCertificate of your valid credential by completing the "Reprint" application at no charge.
  • May I request an official hardcopy certificate?
No. As of July 1, 2015, hardcopy certificates are not available. You may print your eCertificate.
  • Will credential information be available to school districts? Can a link be sent to a school district to verify an active credential?
Credential information is available on the CDE Educator Licensing homepage by selecting Educator Credential Search in the left hand navigation panel and from the Online Services menu in the eLicensing system. At this time, no link can be sent to a school district. Your district may still require you to print a hard copy of your eCredential and submit it to them.
